History:
In post-nuclear war Britain, the unnamed man who would become known as V was one of many prisoners interred at the Larkhill Resettlement Camp, a concentration camp operated by Norsefire, Britain’s new fascist government. While at Larkhill, Prisoner V was one of five test subjects for an experimental hormone treatment. Four of the five subjects died painfully, their bodies twisted and deformed by the ravages of the camp’s experimentations. V, however, survived seemingly unharmed, although not unchanged.
Using his knowledge of chemistry to weaponize gardening supplies given to him by the camp administration, V escaped Larkhill in a haze of mustard gas and a volley of exploding napalm. After Larkhill, V spent the next four years discretely killing anyone involved in the management of Larkhill. Sometime during these years, V made his way to London, to the seat of Norsefire’s power. There he established The Shadow Gallery, his underground base of operations, complete with secret access to Norsefire’s most prized technological accomplishment, the supercomputer FATE. Soon, V set his sights on the final three remaining members of Larkhill’s staff, now important figures in the Norsefire party. V would go on to kill all three figures in elaborate scenarios that announced his existence to both the government and eventually the public at large.
However, these murders were just the start of V’s campaign against Norsefire. Bombings, hijacking the government’s tightly controlled communications, and other public displays of defiance escalated V’s work against the totalitarian regime, all designed to humiliate and destabilize the party, inspiring the people to rise up against their oppressors and make possible a new era of freedom in Britain.
Height: approximately 5’11’’.
Weight: approximately 170 lbs.
Eyes: Unknown.
Hair: Unknown.
Uniform: White "Guy Fawkes" mask. Wig of shoulder length reddish-brown hair. Black hat, tunic, pants, gloves, cloak, and knee-high boots.
Strength Level: V’s strength was heightened by the experimental hormone treatments he was subjected to at Larkhill. As such, he possesses extraordinary, although not superhuman, strength.
Known Superhuman Powers: None.
Other Abilities: Seemingly as a result of the Larkhill experiments, V possesses exceptional speed and agility, which makes him a devastating combatant. He also possesses a keen intellect, exhibiting vast multidisciplinary knowledge and almost preternatural perceptions. He is especially gifted in the use of chemicals (as distractions, explosives, and poisons), computer operations, and infiltration.
At some point, V gained secret access to FATE, the powerful computer system that oversees administration of Norsefire’s government; V regularly uses FATE to monitor the government’s vast surveillance network, to intercept or disrupt confidential government communications, and to access classified information.
